Gotta have that OG: The Case Study

In a city where breakfast is serious business, I set out to design a website for a one-of-a-kind shop that serves both sweet and savory with serious flavor. This project blends culture, cravings, and community to deliver a brand experience as bold as its food. Think fresh donuts, hot tacos, and that bold San Antonio flair in every scroll.

Objectives

Establish a strong brand identity

Capture the shop’s bold, bilingual, and SA-rooted personality. Use playful copy, vibrant colors, and cultural cues to stand out.

Encourage online engagement

Make it easy to explore the menu, join the rewards program, and order online. Include clear calls to action and simple navigation.

Promote customer loyalty

Introduce a fun, trackable rewards system. Encourage repeat visits through exclusive perks and limited-time items.

Be mobile-friendly and easy to use

Prioritize fast loading, clean design, and accessible layout across all devices.

Support local community connection

Use local language, visual references, and seasonal events to create a strong SA vibe.

Design Process

The design process began with research into San Antonio food culture, user needs, and local competitors to understand how to make the brand stand out. From there, I developed a bold, bilingual visual identity that reflected the shop’s sweet-and-savory personality. Wireframes were created to plan intuitive navigation and mobile-first layouts, followed by high-fidelity prototypes that brought the brand’s playful tone to life with vibrant colors, custom illustrations, and dynamic CTAs. Throughout, the focus remained on usability, local flavor, and creating a crave-worthy digital experience that drives engagement, loyalty, and orders.

Persona

Creating a persona is a way to understand what the website is for and who the audience is.

Scenario

A scenario was used to describe the situation that the user would do when craving donuts, tacos, or any Tex-Mex.

Site Map

This site map helped unite the site by describing where everything would go.

Wire Frame

This was a rough draft of the site. It covers what the essential layout was going to be.

Prototype

This would be the next step in creating the website. It shows what images and colors would be implemented into the site.

Final Result

The final website is a vibrant, mobile-friendly experience that captures the bold personality of San Antonio’s original donut and taco shop. With a playful mix of bilingual copy, fiesta-inspired colors, and crave-worthy food photography, the site invites users to explore the menu, order with ease, and connect with the shop’s local flavor.
